Job Description

AK Teaching are currently working in partnership with a Special Educational Needs school in Newcastle. The school are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work with their students with Social Emotional and Mental Health Needs and Austism.They are hoping toemploy a versatile Teaching Assistant who has experience of working with SEN students. The role will invole working on a 1-2-1 or small group basis with several students in their post-16 setting.The successful Teaching Assistant will be have to be patient, resilient and have a real willingness to support the children and help them succeed.Hours for this Teaching Assistant role would be 8.15am-3.30pm and it will be 3 days a week - Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays.Applications from Level 2 or ideally Level 3 qualified Teaching Assistants are particularly welcome, although if you have relevant experience working to support children with these speciific needs in another role then we would also like to hear from you.The ideal candidate will;

  • Have a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Have experience working within a SEN setting.
  • Have experience working with school aged learners with additional needs (preferably involving SEMH and/or ASD).
  • Be committed to working full time.
  • Have a DBS on the update service or be prepared to apply for one through AK Teaching.
