Job Description

The OpportunityAn exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Infrastructure professional to join this public sector organisation as it continues to invest heavily in tech and help the team deliver and maintain high-quality ICT, O/T and industrial business systems.Excellent benefits including joining the Local Government Pension Scheme exist.The RoleUndertaking 3rd/4th line support for all incidents and project delivery metrics, you will act as the highest escalation point for complex issues, for operationally critical commercial and industrial business systems. Specifically you will:

  • Work across ICT teams to ensure that our systems are managed, maintained, supported and secured to high levels and industry best practices.
  • Take an active role in the design and evolution of their business systems, and produce and maintain relevant documentation, schematics, cyber-security measures, processes and procedures.
  • Act as a DBA for SQL databases and ensure their optimal performance, backup and security.
  • Participate in change control and risk management processes, problem and incident resolution, fulfilment requests and work packages, and other governance related processes as necessary.
  • Participate in cyber-security and DR/BC exercises and take remedial actions to improve our cyber-security posture and systems resilience.
  • Install, upgrade and replace equipment, business systems and other relevant technology either independently or as part of a team.
  • Monitor and align business systems to evolving requirements by identifying and implementing improvements that support business processes.
  • Technically impact projects, BAU, architecture considerations and product roadmaps to ensure strategic direction is adhered to including costs, security, obsolescence and other service metrics.
  • Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job and participate in appropriate learning and development activities.
  • Participate on an on- call rota
The RequirementsWith atleast 5 years of experience in ICT systems engineering, preferably in a large and complex organisation, you will possess strong knowledge and skills in IT and ideally O/T business systems, including design principles, configuration and component makeup, and cyber-security measures.With some experience in SQL database administration, backup and security, you will have worked withchange control and risk management processes, problem and incident resolution, fulfilment requests and work packages, and other governance related processes.
