Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Senior Physiologist (Neurophysiology) to join our friendly and dynamic team at the RVI in Newcastle upon Tyne. As an integral part of the Regional Neurosciences Centre the department provides a comprehensive range of all neurophysiological investigations for adult and paediatric patients ranging from:

  • Routine, sleep and portable EEG recordings
  • In-patient and Home video-telemetry recordings
  • Ambulatory monitoring
  • Epilepsy surgery work-up (including intra-cranial VT)
  • Theatre work
  • Evoked potentials
  • Physiologist led carpal tunnel clinics.
  • The investigations are carried out both in the department and also non-dedicated environments ie. Critical Care Units throughout the region.Clinical Physiologists also take part in a weekend and Bank Holiday on call rota.The successful candidate must have a BSc in Clinical Neurophysiology or equivalent specialist training, and hold RCCP registration or equivalent.The successful candidate will be expected to perform a range of complex diagnostic neurophysiological investigations on patients of all ages from a range of specialities suffering from a wide variety of medical disorders including those, which may be neurological, psychiatric and/or learning difficult in nature. Experience in Video-telemetry and Nerve Conduction Studies is desirable though not essential as training will be given.The Department is supportive of further formal and informal training and encourages external CPD activities.Full time 37 hours 30 minutes/week
