Job Description

We are a successful web technology development company based in Newcastle. We pride ourselves on delivering the highest quality solutions to our clients, building strong long-term relationships due to the high level of expertise of our staff. We are currently looking for enthusiastic, driven and talented LAMP developers to add to our team.ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior PHP Developer, you will lead an existing team in a growing company which is expanding rapidly. You will be responsible for directing, building and maintaining functionality for systems used by thousands of users in local and national clients. Your role will entail:

  • Problem solving
  • PHP application development
  • Reporting to the director on a regular basis
  • Full ownership of key tasks and project
  • Maintaining and improving existing legacy code
  • Responsible for scoping, planning and delivering new system functionality
  • Manage your time effectively
    • RequirementsAs a Senior PHP Developer, you should have solid commercial experience and a confirmed track record of success.You will need to have the following Technical skills:
  • OOPHPV5.6 and 7.x - you should be able to write well structured code which adheres to the latest PSR standards
  • MySQL (including MyISAM and InnoDB storage engines) - you should be able to write well structured, normalised and efficient database schemas and understand database efficiency and optimisation
  • Laravel Framework knowledge - good working knowledge of Laravel or another well-structured MVC framework
  • JavaScript - Native and jQuery, plus VUE ideally
  • Linux OS server environment - good understanding of Linux based server environment (Debian/Ubuntu preferable)
  • Version Control - good knowledge of GIT
  • Understanding of Web Security standards and GDPR
  • AWS - knowledge and previous experience using Amazon AWS
  • Terraform experience useful but not essential
  • Experience of leading a team including Project Management
    • Other Skills:
  • Problem solving - you should be able to work through a problem, using your team as well as other resources around you to push it through to completion
  • Communication - you should be a good communicator. You will be expected to articulate yourself to internal staff (developers and managers) as well as clients
