Job Description

SEN Teaching AssistantCould you be the special person to fill the vital role as an SEN Teaching Assistant in a primary classroom Are you dedicated and enthusiastic about supporting pupils in a positive and inclusive way, to ensure that they are learning and developing to theirfull potentialAre you available now The school are looking to employ on a long-term contract after a period of 12 weeks.I am currently supporting a school in the NE6 area of Newcastle, to recruit SEN Teaching Assistants to work in EYFS, KS1 or KS2 classrooms supporting children with SEN. This is not a one-to-one role. It is to start as soon after the October half-term holidayas possible.Heres what you’d be doing as an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Supporting pupils with SEND and challenging behaviour.
  • Building a strong rapport with the pupils to bring out the best in them.
  • Communicating effectively with the class teacher to ensure appropriate strategies are in place to meet the pupils individual needs and learning styles.
  • Managing behaviour in the classroom, and around school, being prepared to challenge where necessary.
  • Differentiating and scaffolding tasks as appropriate.
  • Encouraging independent learning.
What you must have to be successful in the SEN Teaching Assistant Role:
  • Experience with working with pupils with SEN and/or challenging behaviour.
  • Flexibility, having the ability to work well under direction, but equally under your own initiative.
  • Passion for ensuring that the pupils are happy and fulfilled in school.
  • A strong regard for student safety and well-being with a good knowledge of Safeguarding.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (I can help you out with this.)
