Job Description

A Quality Technician is required for a permanent days based position in Newcastle upon Tyne paying c£23-26k. This role will be a developmental position and would suit an apprentice that has worked within quality.Client DetailsA growing fabrication business based in Newcastle upon Tyne that has recently won new contracts with significant and well known manufacturers across the UK.DescriptionAs the Quality Technician your duties will include, however will not be limited to:

  • Conducting product and process audits in line with audit schedule
  • Reporting and raising corrective actions utilising the Quality Improvement System.
  • Confirming products comply with specification
  • Carrying out random inspection of parent materials and consumables
  • Maintaining on-site calibration of applicable measurement and process equipment and collection of measurement equipment in readiness for external calibration
  • Conducting the supplier rejection process up to the collection of non-conforming parts and acceptance of supplier corrective action reports
  • Raising internal non conformance reports and scrap requisitions
  • Supporting the manufacturing function with regular activity to manage parts in quarantine through rework processes.
  • Preparing and distributing shift handover documents to ensure effective communication of activity status and issues.
  • Adhering to H&S procedures, at all times
ProfileThe successful Quality Technician will have:
  • Previously worked in a similar position within a press/assembly/manufacturing environment - ESSENTIAL
  • A formal Engineering qualification ie an apprenticeship - ESSENTIAL
  • Working knowledge of quality standards and tools - ESSENTIAL
  • Assisted (as minimum) and have working knowledge of audits - ESSENTIAL
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills - ESSENTIAL
  • Knowledge and experience of inspection processes and equipment (measuring devices e.g. Faro Arm, flexible tape, steel rule, Verniers, thread gauges) - HIGHLY DESIRABLE
  • The ability to read engineering drawings, PFMEA documents and control plans - HIGHLY DESIRABLE
