Job Description

The Quality Engineer will take ownership of day to day quality aspects arising from internal, customer and supplier sources. Reporting to the Senior Quality Engineer, the role assists in delivering the business Quality agenda by supporting compliance tocustomer, industry, regulatory and business QMS requirements.Client DetailsLarge scale manufacturing plant based in the Newcastle upon Tyne area. With recent high value and long term contract wins it is a fantastic time to join the business.DescriptionThere is a genuine emphasis placed on new product launch, details related to this specifically include:

  • Cross-functional team collaboration in the evaluation and development of new products or changes related to current products in meeting customer requirements
  • Manage inspection and test activities associated with new product introduction and product change requirements
  • Collate and submit customer PPAP documentation relating to new product, product / process changes
General responsibilities:
  • Co-ordinate customer, supplier and internal quality concerns, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues
  • Manage identification and implementation of effective containment, corrective and preventive actions using the Global 8D approach
  • Lead and perform QMS, product, process and system audits to assure ongoing compliance to ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016 requirements
  • Manage on time calibration of applicable measuring equipment
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contributes to business improvement initiatives as needed
  • The Quality Engineer will support a team of Quality Technicians and Quality Inspectors in their day to day activities
Profile
  • Quality Engineer experience in an Automotive manufacturing environment, including the use of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, control plans, SPC, MSA
  • Understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge and experience of inspection processes and equipment (measuring devices e.g. Faro Arm, flexible tape, steel rule, Verniers, thread gauges)
  • Knowledge of applicable quality standards
  • Use of root cause and corrective action tools, e.g. Cause and effect diagram, 5Whys, 5W&H, Parato diagram
  • Trained IATF 16949:2016 auditor
