Job Description

Working in a foundry heavy engineering environment based near the Newcastle Upon Tyne area, you will be responsible for the whole plant including production and personnel including knowledge of the melt, moulding and heat treatment areas in regards to roll manufacturing.Client DetailsBased close to the Newcastle Upon Tyne area, our client specialise in producing forged and cast rolls for steel and metal industries worldwideDescriptionThe key responsibilities of the Production Manager include:

  • Full ownership and responsibility of the foundry and all personnel within the engineering facility
  • Driving change and thinking of new ways to improve output of production
  • Health and Safety responsibilities
  • Quality Management
  • Cost reduction initiatives
  • Set and maintain team KPIs
  • Recruitment involvement when required to help build a team around you
  • Carry out performance and development appraisals
    • ProfileThe successful Production Manager will:
  • Have prior engineering experience of working in a Production Manager or Foundry Manager capacity would be desirable
  • Degree qualified or high level of working experience within metallurgy or material science background
  • Knowledge of roll manufacturing, machining, scheduling and shop operations preferred
  • Foundry, castings, forging, metallurgy, or other industrial sector background knowledge would be considered
