Job Description

Installer / Lead Erector Location: NewcastleSalary: £14.22 - £17.27 per hour basic and £21.33 - £25.91 nights and weekends, DOEContract: Full time, PermanentHours: 40 hours guaranteed, day or night shift, weekend working is a possibilityWe are Saferoad VRS and we are recruiting. We are a leading supplier and installer of Vehicle Restraint Systems including Safety Barrier and Parapet Systems; we are also one of the market leaders installing Environmental Barrier (Acoustic) and General Fencing, working nationwide on secured contracts.We now have a variety of opportunities for, Installers and Lead Erectors to install Vehicle Restraint Systems, Environmental Barriers and Fencing to contract specifications.As our Installer or Lead Erector you will:

  • Installing and ensuring compliance with the correct specification of VRS or another fence being erected.
  • Ensuring compliance with foundation design and report any deviations instructed by the Clients site staff.
  • Working in accordance with the Method Statement and Risk Assessment for the contract and specific task.
  • Bringing any safety issues or concerns to the Site Supervisor / Manager or the Safety Supervisors attention.
  • Overseeing works carried out by Installers and Operatives are done to the correct specification.
  • Ensuring the Site Supervisor / Managers instructions are implemented.
  • Ensuring all permits are in place and that the safe system of work is being properly adhered to.
  • Ensuring the correct inspection and use of company plant and vehicles, correct storage and care of material.
  • Completion of point of work assessments, measure books and Plant checks, and ensuring these are submitted to the Site Manager.
  • Ensuring correct, serviceable PPE is present and worn correctly. Report any deficiencies to HSEQ/Contract manager.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, suppliers, Clients and Engineers.
In order to be successful in this role you must have the following: Education, Training & Skills:
  • Blue FISS/CSCS card Including Operatives CITB Touch Screen Test, Level Award in Health & Safety, VRS Foundation Course, VRS Installer Course, NVQ Level 2, Propriety and Non-Proprietary training such as Mega rail, Vtex or Terminals
  • Gold FISS/CSCS card
  • SSSTS Card - Required or Optional dependant on role
  • Must be a self-starter and team player
  • Must be able to work without the requirement for direct supervision
  • Strong organisational skill and ability to prioritise
  • Read and understand drawings
  • Good written and communication skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • The ability to make decisions and work accurately under pressure
