Head of Penetration Testing

Job Description

Your primary responsibilities will be the ongoing management of the team, including support, development, and recruitment.There will also be the opportunity to work on penetration testing engagements and simulated attacks on web-based applications, networks, and other types of computer systems.This is a customer facing role and you will be dealing with a range of internal and external clients; it is important that you are comfortable and confident with dealing with both these clients as well as the technical aspects of the role.This is a remote position and the successful candidate will be home based, however, there will be a requirement for occasional travel to customer meetings. • Operational and people management of highly skilled penetration testing consultants
• Oversight of mentoring, training and development ensuring professional qualifications are gained and maintained in line with business needs.
• Direct line management of Principal and Managing consultants.
• Oversee pre-sales technical scoping and support business development teams with technical queries both as pre and post sales stage.
• Support projects team to ensure schedule efficiency, and that engagements are coordinated with customers, technical pre-requisites are in place.
• Balance chargeability and non-billable time across the team to ensure profitability is maximised, while allowing team sufficient time for non-billable activities.
• Act as technical account manager on framework contracts. Provide technical input into Tenders and Request for Proposal (RFP) documents.
• Report QA and oversight team of senior team performing report QA ensuring high quality reports are delivered on time to customers.
• Recruit, develop and retain skilled and high performing security consultants.
• Report Key Performance Indicators to stakeholders
• Responsibility for quality and ongoing development of pentest reporting, ensuring regulatory standards are maintained.
• Act as NCSC CHECK Point of Contact (PoC)
• Represent Armadillo at industry events
• Work closely with Internal IT to ensure scalability and availability of infrastructure hosting environment.
• Keep up to date with latest industry developments, and testing hacking methods.
• Develop new service lines and oversee improvements
• Carry out high quality application, network, systems and infrastructure penetration tests to a consistent standard
• Author technical reports to summarise your findings.

Required Skills/Qualities:

• Line management and team management experience
• Excellent stakeholder management skills
• Customer facing skills and confident at translating customer requirements into technical scopes.
• Solid understand of penetration testing services
• Confident at representing Armadillo as technical expert with both internal and external audiences.
• Excellent communications skills - both client-facing and working alongside peers.
• Solid technical skills in both information penetration testing and security architecture.
• Ability to explain findings to a non-technical audience
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills
• Able to work independently but also as part of a team
• Outstanding organisational and data analytics skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

Desirable Qualifications:

• NCSC CHECK Team Leader (CTL)
• CREST CCT, Tiger SST or Cyber Scheme CSTL
• SC Clearance held (or prepared to undergo clearance)

Required Experience:

• Previous line management experience of technical teams
• Technical Scoping
• Report QA
