Job Description

Are you an experienced Embedded Systems Engineer with proven experience in the areas of analogue and digital design, Microprocessor & DSP hardware, signal conditioning and processing and schematic PCB design Interested in joining a multi award winning leader in the world of power and energy systems that provides leading edge tech for a variety of industries including Energy, Transport (Rail), Defence & Industrial If the answer is yes then this could be the perfect opportunity for you!We are urgently seeking to recruit an experienced Embedded Systems Engineer to join a genuine market leader in the field of bespoke Power and Energy systems! Here your role will be to design, implement and test embedded hardware and software which will encompass determining software and controller requirements and validating designs.Specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to;

  • Generation and maintenance of software requirements in line with functional specifications and quality standards.
  • Software design and documentation
  • Generation of efficient, structured, annotated software code as defined in design documentation.
  • Use of simulation tools to ensure that the software operates the product control system in the desired manner.
  • Production of validation and verification requirements in order to test that the design and code has met requirements (conducting verification and validation testing as required).
  • Design and modification of embedded processor cards, peripherals, interfaces and I/O circuitry (this will include all design specification, manufacturing requirements, component definition and test documentation)
  • Integration of embedded solutions (both hardware and software) in order to deliver a combined sub-system that meets the requirements.
  • Development of "next gen" embedded controllers using microcontrollers and DSP’s etc.
  • Design and implementation of interface software (e.g. serial link, Ethernet, MVB, CANbus etc).
  • Demonstrable experience of developing / designing interfaces for Linux based embedded systems and server client side
  • Development of qualification and production test procedures and component specifications.
    • Ideal candidates will possess proven track record in a similar Embedded Systems Engineer role with a background that encompasses strong demonstrable experience in; analogue and digital design, microprocessor / DSP Hardware, signal conditioning and processing (design & development), Schematic PCB design and good experience of the C programming language.Experience of some of the following would be a definite advantage but is not essential);
  • Demonstrable experience with FPGA logic design and simulation tools using VHDL.
  • Experience of using simulation tools such as Simetrix and / or PLECS
  • Experience of Infineon Tricore processors and /or ARM core microprocessors
  • Demonstrable experience of working to recognised software processes and standards with application of SIL levels
  • Experience of using CADstar
