Turnitin is headquartered in Oakland, California with international offices in the UK, the Netherlands, South Korea and Australia.Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Director of Business Systems who will own Turnitin’s business systems infrastructure, delivery of systems solutions and production support to all functions in the company. This role be a part of the operations leadership team. In this position, you will lead and build a team of internal and external resources who will help with business process optimisation, data quality, and analytics. Ideal candidate will have a good mix of strategic and tactical experience in a SaaS/Cloud based company with global market presence.

  • Drive the long term vision, strategy, and roadmap for Business Systems at Turnitin.
  • Hire and lead a growing team capable of delivering systems services to all groups of users across the customer journey: internal users as well as partners and customers on communities
  • Own and refine the process for the intake/prioritisation of business systems projects with lean governance and work, so that your team is working on the right things.
  • Understand and manage stakeholder expectations through continuous communication - across Marketing, Sales, Support, Accounting, Finance, Alliances, Product, and Technology teams.
  • Act as the business systems stakeholder on critical projects, ensuring project success by understanding the needs of the business and leadership, identifying appropriate solutions, and determining how technology should be leveraged to make the solution happen.
  • Bring critical influencing skills and an architecture approach to build a scalable program, in line with Turnitin’s global ambitions.
  • Enable your team to provide continuous support to the solutions you provide.
  • Partner with executives and business leaders globally across all functions, understand the business roadmap, and provide strategic planning (application plans, architecture, roadmaps, budgeting) and hands-on tactical execution (plan, build, run, procure) to meet those needs.
  • Make sure that we’re getting the best value out of the software we’re buying - including negotiations with vendors to pay the appropriate amount for the value we’re getting.

  • Hire, develop, and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team.
  • Qualifications
  • Proven experience as the top-level leader of Business Systems at technology companies, with at least 3-4 years at the Director level.
  • A degree in Computer Science/Engineering or an MBA.
  • Experience and deep understanding of applications, platforms, and technologies such as Salesforce (Sales/Service Cloud, Communities, CPQ), Pardot or Marketo, NetSuite, Boomi, Alteryx, Tableau, Redshift, CPM tools like Anaplan, and development/ consumption of APIs.
  • Experience optimising dataflows in a SaaS company (Lead to Opportunity, Quote to Cash and GAAP Revenue, Order Processing and Fulfillment, Procure to Pay, Customer Onboarding to Ongoing Support), in a global multi-product, multi-channel, multi-currency, multi-subsidiary environment.
  • Experience managing the build and delivery of SaaS/subscription metrics and product usage analytics.
  • Broad understanding of the business technology landscape, emerging trends, and demonstrated track record of partnering with Product/Technology leaders in a SaaS software company to build out a customer journey.
  • Experience supporting large sales and support teams and optimising user experience to reduce overall friction.
  • Ability to deliver improved business outcomes through user experience and technology solutions.
  • Proven experience leading the consolidation of business systems / processes / applications - including eliminating redundant apps, M&A.
  • Experience and willingness to work with remote and offshore delivery teams.
  • Previous experience with agile delivery and technical governance best practices (change control, regression testing, release management, etc).
  • Direct people management experience.
