Job Description

Bonfire Recruitment are retained in the recruitment of a Buyer for a permanent role with our growing manufacturing client that is now part of a larger organisation in the North East of England, UK.Reporting to the Head of Supply-Chain the Buyer will be responsible for taking ownership of purchasing materials and services along with developing supplier product quality processes and standards. This is initially a manual role with modern ERP integration planned for Q4 2021. This role is essential to ensure consistent non-stop manufacturing production of a highly sought after product offering.Responsibilities include:

  • Negotiating and placing orders of significant values with UK & Global suppliers ensuring supply-chain reporting and repeat scheduling processes are developed and maintained
  • Take ownership of supplier accounts including ensuring all orders completed and recorded, monitoring stock forecasts, comparing & negotiating costs, planned versus actual targets
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives, obtain quotes for cost comparison, drive supplier selection process and monitor supplier performance
  • Supplier visits to ensure production constraints, capacity and lead times are understood
  • Work alongside other members of your procurement department regarding pricing maintenance, stock holding and deliveries
  • Identify opportunities for improvement
  • The preferred candidate is expected to:
  • Be a pro-active engaging individual who is conscientious of doing a sterling job to high standards in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Ideally CIPS qualified or working towards full qualification
  • Have at least 5 years demonstrable purchasing and inventory control experience in a UK industrial environment such as manufacturing or engineering business
  • Have demonstrable systems experience in an industrial environment
  • Ability to read / understand engineering drawings would be an advantage but not essential
