Job Description

Summary We are looking for an ambitious RICS accredited professional to join us as an Assistant Rural Surveyor, covering our Northumberland portfolio. Mainly based at Scots Gap, you will have the opportunity to support the work we are doing at the Estateof Wallington, where we are embarking on a landscape scale project to deliver better outcomes for nature with our farm tenants. This includes an estate village, stunning stretches of the Northumberland coast, Hadrians Wall and Tyne Valley estate, Cragsideand our Gibside property.Being RICS qualified, you will be ready to embark on the 2-year Assessment of Professional Competence to become a rural practice Chartered Surveyor. Our training programme provides a wide range of experience in Estate Management - and unparalleled support toprepare you for final APC assessment. This is a 2 year fixed term contract and offering a salary of £30,225 What its like to work here Joining a team of 18 professionals, you will be able to utilise the experiences of Estate Managers, Building Surveyors, Building Supervisors and Estate Management Officers. Working closely with property colleagues, you will be involvedin residential and agricultural let estate management, as well as commercial work. There’s no other employer like the National Trust. What youll be doing Youll be involved in a wide range of work which is likely to include work on agricultural tenancies and agri-environmental schemes, residential and commercial lettings, woodland management, access rights and boundary issues, valuationsand occasional acquisitions and disposals. As part of the Estate Management team, youll develop a range of skills to ensure we safeguard and manage our land and buildings to best deliver National Trust objectives. You will build on the important relationshipswe have with our tenants and bring insightful advice and considerate stakeholder management as well as forward thinking approaches to managing and conserving our land and buildings.Who were looking for

  • A degree surveyor and be working towards RICS membership, Rural Practice Pathway
  • Practical knowledge of land use, agriculture and residential property management, environmental issues, conservation and sustainable development
  • Experience of rural work, so you know the issues communities are facing and the challenges of living and working in the countryside
  • An up-to-date understanding of what’s happening in the wider world of rural surveying
  • Strong negotiation skills – you’ll be able to work alongside our tenants and build good trusted relationships.
