Job Description

1st/2nd Line Support Engineer - Service Desk and ProjectsSalary: £20-£25kLocation: Newcastle Upon Tyne/ Hybrid WorkingType: PermanentMy client a well-established company in the Newcastle area are currently looking to increase their IT team size over the next few months and are firstly looking to take on a technical support professional. If you are looking to expand upon your IT Supportskills, this is the role to take onThe role involves providing ICT support to the company and external companies. You must have an enthusiasm for ICT and want to be part of a growing and exciting team. You will be part of a team who get stuck in at all levels. This will involve learning fromeach other day to day, getting involved in tech outside of your comfort zone and having a passion for problem solving.Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve:

  • Providing remote telephone and desktop support
  • Service Call management including logging initial calls, carrying out and documenting service actions & documenting closed calls & resolutions.
  • Perform System administration on client infrastructure & servers, including administration and maintenance, backup/restore.
  • Carry out project work for clients e.g., Office 365 migrations, phone system installations,
  • Application management and deployment.
  • Management of corporate anti-virus & firewall solutions.
  • Providing a link between sales and ICT department to convey requirements
This role requires candidates to have:
  • Experience with 1st/2nd Line Support, ticketing systems and customer service
  • Technical skills including: Windows Server, Office 365 support/migrations/ installation, Exchange, Windows 10
  • Networking skills: Configure, support and maintain WAN and LAN networking, Routers and Firewalls
  • Configuration, support and maintenance of Cisco/Juniper firewalls would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of virtual desktop/server technologies including VMware, Hyper V & Citrix.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Project implementation skills
