Action for ChildrenCirca Salary - £12.34 per hourContract/Hours: Permanent - Part Time - 16 hours a week. Hours are a variety of hours between 7.30am to 9.30pm. Shifts are on a rota basis and include shift leading and sleep over which is paid at additional £50 per sleep over. We work to ensure their voices are heard, and campaign to bring lasting change to theirlives.About the Role:Chestnut Lodge is a 5 bed short breaks childrens home, providing short breaks to children and their families aged 8 to 18 years of age. The service supports children and young people who have various disabilities, where they can come and stay and have funwhile their families have a break.This home runs mid-week after school clubs and hasresidential services that runs in the main at weekends and during school holidays. Young people get the opportunity to relax, have trips out and learn new skills while they are with us.As a Residential Worker, youll beundertaking the role of shift leading by supporting your colleagues to provide a safe, stimulating and caring environment for children and young people. You will support the children in all aspects of their care, link workingduties for the young people and take a lead role in organising activities. You will be a shift leader who oversees the activities whilst on shift.What you will be doing:-Supporting children to achieve positive outcomes for their future.-Providing a safe environment for them to enjoy time with their friends-Giving families the break, they need to continue supporting their amazing children.-Assisting the children in all aspects of their care and supporting their health and wellbeing.-Supporting children and young people in their personal care, administration of medication and clinical procedures in line with the services policies and procedures.-Contributing to the development and evaluation of care plans and risk assessments as part of link worker role.-Promoting communication and participation throughout the service.-Attending meetings/reviews with other care professionals to promote personcentred care.-Ensuring safeguarding practices are in place.What you will bring:-Leadership skills and ability to run a shift and work well as part of a team-Excellent communication skills.-Be caring and compassionate.-Safeguarding knowledge.-Proactive and motivated.-Flexibility in working shift patterns and for the needs of the service.-Commitment to the children in helping them achieve and to Action for Children.-Experience of working with children.-Must possess Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent to be achieved within 2 years of taking up the post, funded by Action for Children.Working here is so much more than a job.
