Job Description

Production Manager (Interim)FMCG & Food Production Sector Newcastle-Under-Lyme £45,000 - £50,000 (Depending on experience) Fixed Term Contract18 Months Im currently recruiting for an experienced Production Manager to join a market leading animal food manufacturer.They are seeking an experienced Production Manager to support the current production team to play a pivotal role in the Proactive monitoring of production KPIs to improve performance through continuous improvement is key to the success of this role whilsttaking ownership of production costs to attain budget/forecast performance. You will lead the team production team through coaching & development coupled with performance management to promote a culture of safety, efficiency & team work.Benefits;

The candidate;
  • Production factory management experience within a food environment
  • Animal feed production management experience is highly desirable
  • Proven experience of training an developing teams is critical
  • An understanding of milling operations and processes is highly desirable
  • Experience of working in a highly automated production process is highly desirable
  • Just in time, Six Sigma or LEAN manufacturing experience is highly desirable
  • Approachable, willing to listen and actively encourage subordinates to contribute to the success of the team
  • Lead by example and demonstrates a strong work ethic
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Proven experience in driving through continuous improvement activities
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
Duties and Responsibilities;
  • To monitor the production processes to achieve the optimum performance of the plant, as well as the performance KPIs set by the UK Management Team.
  • Work with the Engineering Team to ensure the maintenance plan minimises the time lost through breakdown.
  • Ensure audits are conducted on a regular basis
  • Maintaining sites environmental management system to ensure ongoing compliance with 14001 & 50001 accreditations.
  • Monitor and control the costs of manufacturing consumables
  • Investigate, report on and implement corrective actions for any production related customer complaints.
  • Ensure the mill cleaning schedule is adhered to and all spillages and leaks are dealt with in the appropriate manner.
  • Build the clean-as-you-go culture, so we can all have pride in our working environment. Including developing a site wide 5S programme.
  • Manage the site planning team work with the site planning team to assist with monthly stocktaking by managing physical stock checks of macro and micro raw materials.
  • Work with the Site Leadership Team to ensure that all mill costs are maintained within budget constraints.
  • Ensure that you encourage a safety first culture and provide a safe working environment for your team
  • To work with the Site Leadership Team to identify and develop opportunities for manufacturing improvements.
  • Conduct regular objective reviews with direct reports and ensure direct reports feed objectives through their teams.
  • Ability to stand in for Operations Manager and take accountability for the role.
  • Budget management and understanding impact of actions on costs.
