Job Description

Flexographic Print Assistant / No2. Print Minder(Training will be given)Newcastle-under-LymeSalary DOEThree shifts to choose from;

  1. Days and noons rotating 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm Monday to Friday
  2. Nights 10pm to 6am Sunday to Thursday
  3. Weekend shifts, Fri, Sat, Sun 12hrs days or nights 6am to 6pm, or 6pm to 6am (Weekend shifts work 36hrs including break paid 40hrs
CompanyEstablished 30 years ago this company is now an international leading plastic / paper manufacturer, with sites in the UK, Europe, Far East and Australia. Now looking for Flexographic Printers and No2. Machine Minders to join them due to growth of the businessAbout the roleWe are currently looking for a print assistant to join our team, to support the current team with the operation of flexographic print equipment. Reporting to the shift supervisor, your key duties will include:
  • Assisting in the set up and operation of print machinery to optimum levels in a safe working manner, ensuring that the machinery and surrounding area are maintained in line with required health, safety, environmental, hygiene and housekeeping standards.
  • Work in line with site standards for BRC
  • Ensuring daily productivity schedules are met and surpassed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within Production.
  • Maintain press consumables to ensure a continuous supply including loading/offloading of reels and loading/offloading of inks on the print press.
  • Spot and report any non-conformities to the shift supervisor and support resolution as required
  • Assist with general cleaning and maintenance of print equipment.
  • Display flexibility to support other areas of Production as and when required, including operating other machinery such as Slitting machinery.
Skills, Qualifications & Attribute
  • Part trained Printer, preferably with flexographic experience
  • Relevant Print NVQ Level 2 or 3 an advantage
  • Good level of literacy and numeracy, preferably GCSE level in English and Maths
  • Previous print experience, preferably flexographic but will consider other print background including lithographic or digital print
  • Some experience of Holweg, Sunhope and Garant paper bag machines printers with 4 & 6 colour printers an advantage
  • Some experience in Mounting would be an advantage
  • Background in manufacturing, packaging printing or running of manufacturing machines
