Job Description

We have an excellent opportunity for a Children’s Activity Lead to join our client’s charity and deliver weekend activity sessions to children and young people in the Staffordshire area(Moorlands, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Stafford, South Staffordshire & Cannock).Please note:This role is for a minimum of 8 hoursto 30 hoursper month on a fixed term contract to 31st March 2021 with possible extension.The CompanyOur client is a national charity that works to transform the lives of disabled children and their families, enabling them to challenge any barriers they face throughout childhood by providing practical and emotional support.The RoleAs Children’s Activity Lead, you will plan, co-ordinate and deliver regular weekend activities as part of our client’s ASDAN programme. The aim is to help disabled children and young people identify their goals and build the skills and experience to allow them to reach their full potential, helping them to build friendships and form lasting social networks. The main purpose of this role is to plan and implement fun, inspiring and challenging leisure activities that build life skills and promote independence, whilst also providing carers with vital short break respite.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Completing initial assessments for children prior to them starting the activities
  • Ensuring each programme and activity is planned in advance and delivered to quality standards in a timely manner
  • Ensuring children remain engaged and safe throughout the programmes
  • Completing all required paperwork and documentation
  • Ensuring records and portfolios are up to date and have sufficient evidence to meet ASDAN standards
  • Signposting children into ongoing local activities where appropriate
  • Ensuring children have exit plans for longer term support on leaving programmes and activities
  • Assisting in the training, supervision and monitoring of support workers and volunteers
  • Ensuring adult numbers of support workers and volunteers meet the support needs of children on all activities and programmes
  • Supporting income generation by identifying possible fundraising opportunities.
  • Completing risk assessments on all proposed activities and venues
  • Ensuring compliance with ISO and Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Providing monthly reports and evidence required by funders, including user feedback forms, promotion and media coverage
  • About YouThe ideal Children’s Activity Lead will have / be:
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • 2 years’ experience working with children
  • Ability to engage, motivate and communicate with children and young people
  • Ability to work on own initiative and part of a team
  • Good IT skills
  • Good organisational, planning and problem solving skills
  • Dedicated, passionate, enthusiastic and resilient
  • Willingness to travel throughout Staffordshire
  • Happy to do evening and weekend work as required
  • Rewards and HoursAs Children’s Activity Lead, there is a salary on offer of £9.40 per hour and you will work a minimum of 8 hours per month up to a potential 30 hours per month (depending on how many sessions you would like to commit to).
