Action for ChildrenSalary - £10.84 an hourContract/Hours: Permanent - Part Time -16 hours a week. Hours are a variety of hours between 7.30am to 9.30pm. We work to ensure their voices are heard, and campaign to bring lasting change to theirlives.About the Role:Chestnut Lodge is a 5 bed short breaks childrens home, providing short breaks to children and their families aged 8 to 18 years of age. The service supports children and young people who have various disabilities, where they can come and stay and have funwhile their families have a break.This home runs mid-week after school clubs and hasresidential services that runs in the main at weekends and during school holidays. Young people get the opportunity to relax, have trips out and learn new skills while they are with us.In the role of Assistant Residential Worker, it will be your responsibility to liaise with the children, young people and their families to ensure that their care is always to the best possible standard. You will also be supporting them with all aspectsof their care.As an Assistant Residential Worker youll be:

  • Supporting children and young people in their personal care, administration of medication and procedures in line with the services policies and procedures.
  • Providing a safe and fun environment to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Promoting independence.
  • Updating care plans and risk assessments.
Our job description for the Assistant Residential Worker outlines the requirements of the role but the must-haves are:
  • Experience of working with children or young people (experience working with children with disabilities would be an advantage).
  • The qualification of Level 3 QCF Working with Children and Young People or equivalent is desirable, or the willingness to work towards this funded by Action for Children.
  • Working of own initiative.
  • A flexible approach to working hours (this is a 24 hour Service)
  • A good standard of written English and the ability to make accurate notes for recordkeeping.
