Job Description

Principal Network EngineerWould you like to play a key role in the development of a network that will be utilised in the current Royal Navy Platforms Would you like to have the opportunity to see your work have real world outcomes We currently have a number of vacancies for Principal Network Engineers to join us at our sites in New Malden, Portsmouth(Broad Oak) Frimley or Dorchester.As a Principal Network Engineer, you will be delivering an integrated, performant Network system as part of a larger Combat System product in line with all relevant processes and quality requirements under the direction of the Network engineering team leader. You will be working on the design, implementation and integration of a network being developed in a lab environment for the T26, T45 or QEC Aircraft Carrier Platforms.This role will give you the opportunity to see real world tangible outputs as a result of your work. It could provide you with the unique opportunity to gain access on board the ships to see the solutions you are developing in use. Development opportunities in the Combat Systems Team or within the BAE Systems Business exist to grow your network skills or branch out into new roles.Your main responsibilities as a Principal Network Engineer will involve: Installation and configuration of a complex network architecture to ensure the network meets its availability and performance requirementsSupport and maintain the availability of the network sub-systemResolve and implement solutions to Observations raised on the network sub-systemCarry out investigations into operational problems or developments and develop and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of a project team.Support other discipline teams (e.g. Software, Systems) with trouble shooting and resolving system observations.Your skills and qualifications:An understanding of how to configure and setup Juniper and Dell Switches and Juniper FirewallsExperience with configuring and installing client and server network softwareKnowledge of Local Area Networking (LAN) and/or Wide Area Networking (WAN) technologiesAn understanding of the technology behind a switched architecture and its workings (DNS, DHCP, Security, IP Switching/Routing, HTTP, VPN, etc.)Current Juniper JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP certificationExperience of working with Switches, Routers, Hubs, Servers, Cables (Cat 5-6), Fibre Optics, Racks LAN, WAN, TCP/IP (Ethernet)Network Management & Monitoring Systems e.g. PRTG and SolarwindsWhat were looking for in you:You will be an enthusiastic and keen team player that is motivated to achieve the best outcomes.Location: New Malden, Dorchester, Frimley or Portsmouth (Broad Oak)Salary: CompetitiveBenefits: Our employees receive an excellent benefits package which includes a competitive pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance and a Company contributed Share Incentive Plan.
