Job Description

Oakleaf are currently looking to recruit an Activities Coordinator for our 44 bed acute mental health hospital based in Mundesley, following expansion.This is a great opportunity to join Southern Hill Hospital and be part of something exciting. We are a friendly, growing company that puts its staff at the very heart of our businessSouthern Hill Hospital now has 44 mental health beds, across four wards. Southern Hill Hospital is able to offer a 24-hour acute admission within a safe and secure environment.Candidates would ideally have previous experience of working as a Activities Coordinator in a Care setting but we will consider Senior Support Workers with extensive experience in mental health looking to move into activities.The role is for 40 hours per week over 5 days, 8 hours per day and will include alternate weekends.Main function of the job:-To create a stimulating and developing activity programme to enhance the quality of life for each patient within the hospital. To plan, organise and co-ordinate activities for active daily living for each patient individually and in groups. Plan and organise an activities programme that will maintain interest and progression over a period of time. Identify the needs of the collective group and individuals and tailor the activities to suit them.Main duties of the role:-

  • Assist patients in all aspects of their daily activity programme.
  • Support and develop patients who have behavioural problems.
  • Assist in the promotion of strategies to improve stimulation.
  • Observe care planning needs for patients and complete written daily records as instructed and in line with the Company’s policies and procedures.
  • Assist in framework of social activities by interacting with residents and helping them continue with hobbies and activities in the location.
  • Ensure full privacy and dignity is maintained in line with the Company’s policies and procedures.
  • Escort patients travelling to and from the location to activities.
  • Participate in the creation and review of risk assessments for levels of activity.
  • Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with residents affairs, and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship that exists with residents.
  • Maintain an awareness of the Health and Safety requirements.
  • Maintain client and business confidentiality at all times.
  • Continual personal development to develop oneself and the role.
  • In addition to these tasks, employees may at times be asked to carry out other reasonable duties as required by the service or line manager.
  • Personal Specification:-
  • Calm-natured and patient
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Flexible working methods
  • At least 1 year knowledge and experience of working with adults living with mental health conditions (at Support Worker or SSW level)
  • Previous experience of planning activities and coordinating
  • QCF level 2 or 3 or equivalent.
