Job Description

Missing People’s award-winning Communications Team is a fast paced, high impact environment, which is known for punching above its weight.This is an opportunity for someone interested in social media to work with a great comms team in a very varied role, which will be a fantastic start to your career. You will have the chance to support all marketing and digital communications activity across the charity including social media, online and offline marketing, fundraising, campaigning and case publicity.Marketing & Communications Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Communications and Supporter Teams to maximise opportunities to promote the charity, increase donor acquisition and retention, and to generate income via strategic digital and social marketing;
  • Help to communicate and promote local and national projects and partnerships to increase use of the charity’s services, to recruit volunteers, and to support research and campaigning work for missing people and their families:
  • Generate and upload marketing and communications content to various digital channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the charity website;
  • Lead on website news pages, commissioning, editing and/or writing relevant and timely content, ensuring consistent tone of voice;
  • Assist the marketing funnel working group to ensure smooth donor journeys are in place, and provide copywriting support;
  • Support the daily publicity function of uploading and withdrawing appeals for missing people on social media;
  • Support the team with press activity such as monitoring the inbox, responding to enquiries, providing comments and arranging interviews;
  • Act as a brand champion across the organisation;
  • Marketing & Communications Assistant Requirements:
  • Experience of working within a Marketing, PR or Communications role as an employee, intern or volunteer;
  • Experience using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and databases;
  • Experience of using social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter for business;
  • Experience of using a website (Content Management System) CMS e.g. WordPress;
  • Excellent copywriting skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, both formal and informal;
  • Highly organised and able to manage a demanding workload, prioritising tasks effectively;
  • Intuitive approach to new online platforms and content management systems;
  • Ability to motivate, enthuse and inspire others, including colleagues and volunteers;
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and work to tight deadlines;
  • Ability and motivation to drive forward projects and initiatives, working collaboratively;
