Job Description

Our client, a forward thinking public sector organisation based in the North East, is currently recruiting for a HR Adviser on an interim basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a people focussed organisation who offer a great work life balance, includingautonomy to work from home with minimal office presence.The position is due to start ASAP on a full-time basis for an initial 3 month period with the possibility of extension.Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Deliver a comprehensive range of HR services and provide advice and support to managers and staff on the application of HR policies and procedures
  • Act as a first point of contact in providing operational HR advice and guidance to managers and staff in management of attendance, terms and conditions of employment, conduct and capability, grievance, performance management, change management, retentionand redeployment, dignity at work etc
  • Communicate sensitive and complex information to managers and all staff covering a comprehensive range of HR services including redeployment, organisational change, absence management, performance management, bullying and harassment, redundancy etc
  • Support line managers in effectively managing all forms of absence in order to achieve significant reductions in sickness absence and other staffing costs as appropriate including advice on referrals to and information received from Occupational Health
  • Advise managers and staff on grievance and disciplinary procedures and works in partnership with managers in order to meet the councils targets for completion.
  • Co-ordinate activities which include multi-disciplinary meetings, disciplinary hearings etc.
  • Work in partnership with managers to develop effective solutions to HR management issues through the effective use of questioning, listening and coaching skills.
  • Support managers through partnership working utilising appropriate policies and procedures and the range of options provided through these.
  • Devise and deliver training and development programmes to support policy implementation with the aim of assisting managers in their role of managing staff effectively.
  • Attend, represent and take part in meetings in a formal note taking capacity, transcribing minutes for use in future process ie. Appeals, Employment Tribunals etc.
About you:
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resources or equivalent demonstrable portfolio of experience
  • A sound working knowledge of a range of policies and management procedures.
  • Previous experience of working within an HR environment
Working hours:
  • 37.5 hours per week, flexible working
