Job Description

SER are currently working with an AP on the Isle of Sheppey who are looking for an Engagement Coach to support in their new provision from January 2024.As an Engagement Coach, you will be enthusiastic about young people and education. The primary aim of this post is to deliver support, mentoring and coaching sessions to registered students who are part of the Alternative Provision. The Engagement Coachwill deliver activities including team-building games, building social interaction, critical thinking activities and restorative practice. You will play a pivotal role in mentoring and supporting the students’ needs and aiding retention of students on thecourse.Position: Engagement CoachHours: TBC (5hrs per day) 4 days per weekRate: £70 - £80pr day (depending on experience)Location: Isle of SheppeyAdditional: Own transport essentialResponsibilities include:

  • To ensure that all engagement sessions are planned and delivered to a high level
  • To assist where necessary and support those who need extra help by offering 1- to-1 guidance
  • To support the participation, retention, and progression of students to get the best outcomes
  • Consult with other staff members
  • Supervise the young people at all times
  • To attend and engage in all relevant staff meetings and maintain effective communication with staff, students and other relevant organisations
  • To undertake training and CPD as necessary and relevant to the role
  • To be familiar with the APs Code of Conduct and all operational, Health & Safety, Child Protection and Data Protection policies.
  • This position is due to start in January for successful candidates, but there is a degree of flexibility with this. Initially this will be on a long-term contract basis with the opportunity to apply for a permanent position at a later date.

  • Be able to commit to working the hours specified above.
  • Provide an enhanced DBS registered on the update service. If you do not hold a valid DBS, be willing to apply for a new DBS. The cost of a DBS is a one-off payment of £38 with an annual subscription of £13 per year to the DBS Update Service.
  • If you have been a UK resident for less than 5 years, a right to work visa must be provided and a criminal background check certificate must be provided for any country resided in for 6 months or more within the past 5 years.
  • Provide all required documentation (ID, Qualifications)
