Job Description

Mechanical Design Engineers we have an opportunity to work on both new and existing product designs! If you are a graduate looking for a challenge with opportunity to progress, or a CAD Designer wanting a step up this could be the role for you! Working withina manufacturing company that designs systems for use in Aerospace, Composites, Automotive and Healthcare industries you will be given exposure to work on multiple mechanical designs with the support of senior colleagues.Start: ASAPLocation: North Cambridge, CambridgeshireSalary: £35,000 - £40,000Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Core hours 9am - 4pm Monday - FridayDuration: PermanentBenefits: 25 days Holiday + 8 bank holidays, life assurance 4 x your salary, healthcare insurance benefit, pension, up to 10% off railcards for being based on the science park in CambridgeDuties:

  • Mechanical design of new products as part of the innovation team
  • Modifications to existing products and manufacturing equipment
  • Design for manufacture, relevant standards and compliance
  • Generation of concepts and lay-outs of robust systems
  • Using the in-house CAD package (Autodesk Inventor)
  • New product design from concept to manufacturing drawings
  • Assist with the validation of new products and their transfer to manufacture
  • Contributing mechanical/aesthetic design during the design process
  • Taking ideas and creating their vision into full 3D models
  • Evaluate new techniques, materials and hardware to incorporate into
  • designs
  • Design and create drawings for jigs and fixtures for manufacturing
  • Travel, as necessary, to attend conferences, exhibitions and customer visits
Knowledge and Experience:
  • Engineering degree or similar experience and knowledge
  • Experienced 3D CAD user - Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks preferred
  • Design for manufacturing knowledge and/or experience
