Job Description

Purpose: To deliver data and data analysis using MS Power BI which drives focussed data decision making, continuous improvement, innovation and learning across the organisation.Position: Part time or Full Time (20 - 37 hours a week, depending on candidate)Scope: Go South West, incorporating Plymouth Citybus and Go Cornwall Bus are the largest bus operator in the South West, employing over 800 people and carrying over 25 million passengers a year. The operation is focused in the Plymouth travel to work area and the whole of Cornwall.Go South West are Investors in People Platinum and have a Queens Award for Enterprise.The role is regional in scope and requires day to day focus in the South West; the role will generally be office based.Knowledge and Skills Requirements

Proven experience of developing responsive, user friendly interactive data visualisations, dashboards and reports that will be consumed in Power BI

Experience in BI admin and testing / validation

Gathering requirements and documenting

Designing input feeds from various sources of data

Understanding of source data and data feeds / architecture

Ability to cleanse data

Effectively uses business data and multiple sources to guide activities and decisions

Attention to detail and process

Innovates to improve things

Not afraid to challenge others and the status quo

Highly creative with the commitment to deliver and encourage fresh ideas

Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

Experience of big data projects

Main Responsibilities and tasks

Ensuring sources and processes for data flow across the business are in place.

Developing and implementing creative and imaginative ways of displaying and disseminating data insight across the whole business.

Bringing data insight to life in a manner that engages all stakeholders.

Focusing on actionable insight

Using data and insight to drive a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and learning that feeds into everyday management.

Using data and insight to drive sound long term planning and strategic thinking.

Identifying new opportunities to use data.

Ensuring all output is timely, relevant, actionable and delivered within agreed timescales at agreed cost.

Applying best practice.

Delivering ad hoc data insight projects that inform decision making for management.

Offering ad hoc insight support for the other regions as required.

Attending meetings and other events that may be outside normal working hours or place of work may be required in order to undertake the role effectively, but this is not likely to be significant.
