Job Description

Mobile Mechanical Technician (Gas)£38,000 + BenefitsMerseysideThe RoleDo you have experienced in the Gas Appliances, Oil appliances and mechanical aspects of general building PPM schedules, and reactive works Are you looking to take the next step in building a long-term career If so, we are looking for you.SPIE UK is looking for a Mobile Mechanical Technician to carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), Reactive Maintenance and extra works or emergencies in accordance with the contract requirements on Multi-Skilled Services.Key Responsibilities:The key responsibilities of a Mobile Mechanical Technician (Gas) include, but are not limited to:

  • Work as a key part of the Mobile Support Team supplying gas competency to external clients.
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) to boilers and associated plant, including Reactive Maintenance and extra works/emergencies.
  • Undertake project works and minor turnkey projects to Boiler plant and associated equipment.
  • Provide detailed reporting with predictive times for remedial and chargeable works, and life cycle condition reporting.
  • Provide a high level of Gas technical and hands on support in the provision of our service delivery and the daily communication with our clients.
  • Carry out PPM in accordance with set schedules, ensuring engineering standards are maintained in order to maximise the operational effectiveness and reliability of the Heating Plant and associated mechanical systems.
  • Adherence to set engineering standards in accordance with Health and Safety at Work Act (HASAWA) requirements.
  • Ensure onsite Quality Assurance procedures are adhered to in all respects and to maintain accurate records/documentation associated with the mechanical aspects of the PPM and plant.
  • Respond to call outs and cover breakdowns and emergencies associated with the mechanical services aspects of the contract as required.

The PersonThe key skills and qualities of a Mobile Mechanical Technician (Gas) are:
  • NVQ Level 2-3 (Mechanical Discipline e.g., Heating and Ventilating 6018) or recognised equivalent; or City and Guilds (Mechanical Discipline) or recognised equivalent.
  • ACS/Corgi/Gas Safe qualification in Domestic & Commercial Gas
  • A working knowledge and experience of oil-fired appliances
  • Experience of combustion and the utilisation of gas analysers for improved efficiency.
  • Experienced in the Gas Appliances, Oil appliances and mechanical aspects of general building PPM schedules, and reactive works
  • NIC accredited for Gas installations
  • Competent working knowledge of Air Handling Units, Building Management Systems, Air Conditioning equipment, Cold Water systems, Heating and Ventilation systems, Water Treatment.
  • Full UK driving licence.
