Job Description

Due to ongoing growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Machine Shop Supervisor to join a niche Automotive Parts Manufacturer, based at their site in Knowsley.The company is a cutting edge car parts manufacturer with large growth plans, meaning this is an excellent time to join this ambitious company, its growth is phenomenal and the candidate must want to be part of an organisation that is aiming to be a major, world class Tier 1 manufacturer within the next five years.The Machine Shop Supervisor will work closely with the Production Manager, to delivery production orders on time and to the company quality requirements, typically producing CNC Milled machined parts. A large focus of this role will be based on the development and improvement of the production process, 5s, team training & development plans and SAP upgrades.Responsibilities of the Machine Shop Supervisor will be:

  • Develop & Maintain high levels of health & Safety standards.
  • Work with the Quality team to improve and implement the Quality Management System.
  • Action Quality Issues and support all Non Conformance Meetings.
  • Develop & Maintain high levels of 5s standards.
  • Manage and implement process improvements in cooperation with Engineering, Launch and Quality functions.
  • Management of the Production Team, including appraisals, disciplinary requirements, time management, training, developing personal growth opportunities and adhering to Company Policies and procedures.
  • Provide first line supervision and support to the Production Team to ensure the day to day delivery of product is seamless.
  • Support the Production Manager in planning activities to ensure efficient product.
  • Define and Delivery Production Schedule.
  • Support the progression of parts.
  • Manage to production flow, using resource efficient to hit demand targets.
  • Measure and report daily, weekly and monthly production efficiency against set targets.
  • Ensure planned and preventative maintenance requirements are met and reports maintenance issues back to the Production Manager and Maintenance Manager.
  • Continuous Improvement Champion.
  • Additional responsibilities:
  • Trained internal auditor to assist with Audit Requirements.
  • Trained lean Six Sigma Green Belt to assist with Continuous Improvement.
  • Act as Deputy Production Manager.
  • The Machine Shop Supervisor will have:
  • Experience in an Engineering environment, ideally CNC machiningmanufacturing.
  • Hands-on approach to work.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Lean manufacturing principle implementation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent time management
  • Ability to use problem solving tools and work with stakeholders on solutions
  • Excellent skills in MS Office, with emphasis on Excel
  • Able to work independently and within a team
  • Excellent people management skills and ability to mentor and motivate teams
  • Good general organisational and administrative background
  • Good presentation skills
  • Ability to create & deliver training material
  • Ability to communicate at all levels both verbally and written.
  • Desirable Skills
  • Quality auditing qualifications
  • Certified lean Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Experience in SAP Business One / Beas
  • Edgecam / CNC Programming Knowledge
