Job Description

Bidfood are looking for a Transport Planner to join the team in Chepstow. We believe in our food, and we know that our people behind the scenes are so very important in our success.About the Role:We are now looking for a Transport Planner to ensure all routes are planned in the most efficient and feasible way in line with legal requirements and depot KPIs using Paragon, Q Drop and Reflex.As Transport Planner, you will

  • Complete daily route planning using Paragon to ensure routes are feasible, accurate and legal, taking into account all master data and feasibility messages.
  • Work with the Customer Service team/Transport Management to ensure any failed, off route or service error recovery deliveries are re-routed efficiently.
  • Ensure the availability of vehicles for Safety inspections, MOTs and VOR remedial works.
  • Liaise with the transport management and de-brief team to ensure all routed vehicles are road worthy and fully compliant.
  • Investigate all extended waiting time within the plan and rectify Master Data accordingly.
  • Liaise with De-brief and/or Drivers to ensure any route feedback is captured.
  • Liaise with Customer Service and Sales teams to ensure all Customer requirements are met or suitable alternatives agreed.
  • Constantly review the plan, making daily decisions and longer term planning strategies to drive down cost to serve / improve service to Customers.
  • Optimise vehicle capacity and effectively plan routes to ensure balanced workloads across all multi drop drivers.
  • Consistently review depots geographical boundaries and existing routes, and actively participate in recommendations to adjust accordingly.
  • Comply with all Health and Safety Policies.
Working Hours:
  • Sun - Thurs - 10am - 7pm (Back shift)
About You:As Transport Planner you will be a team player who works well under pressure and demonstrates plenty of initiative.The ideal Transport Planner will have:
  • A good eye for detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Good analytical investigation skills.
  • Good administrative skills.
  • A personable and collaborative approach with ability to build rapport with colleagues.
  • Previous experience within a busy transport department.
  • Legal and compliance knowledge (Tachograph and working time directive legislation).
