Job Description

Our Clients is a market leading and vey progessive Financial Planning firm and they are currently looking for an experienced Compliance Officer to support their Asset Management and Platform Management departments.This is a part time role at around 15/20 hours a week, where the successful candidate will work remotely.Key Responsibilites:

  • To be the Compliance and Money Laundering Officer for the IFPR MiFID businesses in the group, holding the relevant FCA SMF16/17 functions.
  • To take ownership of and manage the compliance and risk processes for the IFPR MiFID businesses in the Group, and to ensure all staff are appropriately conversant and compliance with the processes.
  • To ensure IFPR MiFID businesses minimise their exposure to financial crime and money laundering by taking ownership and managing the firms financial crime systems and controls.
  • To take oversight of the training and competency framework for the MiFID businesses, and work with relevant stakeholders to ensure senior management function and certification function staff are competent for the roles they perform, properly supervisedand monitored in accordance with the training and competence policy.
Compliance Function (SMF16 Function):
  • Keep up to date with regulatory developments, assessing the impact on the firm and implementing changes to the risk and compliance framework to meet new rules/legislation.
  • Manage the firms relationship with the regulator and ensure the firm can respond in a timely basis to requests for information.
  • Comply at all times with the Compliance and Training and Competence policies, and with the requirements of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, the Financial Services Act 2012, and the regulatory Principles, Code of Practice for approved personsand rules.
  • Oversee the implementation of the firms SMCR policy and the Training and Competence Framework.
  • Annually assess the appropriateness of the firms compliance monitoring framework and program, ensuring it is sufficiently robust and remains fit for purpose.
  • Oversee the implementation of the firms complaint handling policy and financial promotions policy.
  • Work with the CRO, GCD and CFO to ensure adequate and appropriate PII cover is in place.
  • Ensure all staff that fall under the FCA SMCR regime undertake compliance induction training which is appropriate to their role and which includes the FCA Code of Conduct.
Money Laundering (SMF17 Function):
  • To be the recipient of internal suspicious activity reports (SOR) in line with the firms financial crime policy.
  • To implement the firms financial crime and anti-money laundering policies and ensure appropriate monitoring is in place.
  • Keep up to date with relevant regulatory developments including the National Crime Agency and Financial Action Task Force.
  • Ensure adherence to requirements is monitored through routine file checks and oversee and report on annual money laundering risk-assessment.
Training and Competency Function:
  • Oversee and implement the training and competency framework to manage the certified function staff in IFPR MiFID businesses in the group.
  • Implement monitoring and ensure that certification staff are competent for the roles they perform, and prepare management information, analysis and recommendations in relation to performance.
Knowledge:
  • Detailed knowledge of FSMA and MiFID, and the FCA rules and guidance as they apply to IFPR asset managers and platforms.
  • Detailed knowledge of anti-money laundering and financial crime legislation, rules and guidance.
