Job Description

Our specialist services allow us to deliver care to 4.5m people from across the East Midlands and nationally for a handful of services.QMC is where our Emergency Department (ED), Major Trauma Centre and the Nottingham Childrens Hospital are based. It is also home to the University of Nottinghams School of Nursing and Medical School. Nottingham City Hospital is our planned care site, whereour cancer centre, heart centre and stroke services are based, and where some of our emergency admissions units are located. Ropewalk House is where we provide a range of outpatient services, including hearing services.What youll be responsible for:

  • Accurately transcribing from Winscribe digital dictation and Winscribe Speech Recognition digital dictation, outpatient clinic letters and miscellaneous clinical correspondence to a high standard with specified timescales.
  • Responsible to produce discharge summaries, clinical papers and material for publication from either audio or copy typing.
  • Use judgement and initiative to prioritise the importance/urgency of requests within defined guidelines
  • Undertake daily peer audit of clinical correspondence to ensure a high standard of accuracy and quality of work.
  • Ability to exchange sensitive or contentious information with diplomacy and in a confidential manner.
  • Liaising with outpatient administrator re. Appointments and necessary important clinical information to ensure patients are seen on their pathway without delay.
Youll learn the following whilst working at the trust:
  • An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS.
  • Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times.
  • A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation.
Youll have the following skills/experience:
  • System knowledge - Medway, Notis
  • Audio typist experience
  • Experience reading reports and data
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Microsoft Office package knowledge e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel
