Ofcoms Technology Group is playing a central role, transforming the way inwhich we use in-depth technical and analytical knowledge, and awareness of the broader tech sector, to drive our regulatory and policy work. The groups work spans critical sectors, from broadband and mobile networks to broadcast TV and radio services. Andnow we are responsible for regulating UK video sharing platforms and leading the technical work as we gear up to regulate online safety and ensure people can live a safer life online. Were also building a deeper understanding of the roles that cross-cuttingtechnologies such as artificial intelligence and deep learning play across all of our sectors.Within our Technology, Data and Innovation Group, the newly created Technology Policy team seeks to ensure that technology drives Ofcoms approach to policy development and regulation, and that we can bring together technology and policy knowledge and expertiseto deliver a real impact for consumers across the UK. Purpose of the RoleWere seeking someone who can lead our approach to transforming the way the Technology, Data, and Innovation Group fits in with the rest of the organisation and ensures we communicate effectively externally. This role will lead the delivery of our visionto embed technology and data at the forefront of policy making and our strategy for coordinating our engagement with the rest of Ofcom on technology and data issues. It will also coordinate our stakeholder engagement across the group and work closely withOfcoms comms function to ensure our Group vision is communicated effectively internally and externally. You will work alongside two other principals working on a range of technology policy issues in a team of around a dozen.Reporting to the Director of Technology Policy responsibilities for this role include:

• Developing and leading our strategy for embedding technology and data skills at the forefront of Ofcoms work. This might include proposals for training modules to help policy staff understand core technology issues.
• Developing processes for managing engagement and input to policy projects across Ofcom, and ensuring the group remains aligned with Ofcoms strategic priorities.
• Developing our stakeholder engagement plan and narratives for engagement, working closely with other stakeholder engagement teams across Ofcom especially on online safety.
• Providing input to policy development and projects, and potentially leading on discrete projects where time allows.
• Engaging closely with Ofcoms internal comms function to ensure that we:
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues across the organisation to maximise engagement
  • Effectively communicate our understanding of, and views on, tech and data issues externally, including securing attendance and speaking engagements at events and conferences.
