• Work with the DBA team in the review and performance tuning process of developer and user queries
• Take an active role as part of the DBA function defining and delivering IT strategy to meet Slater Gordons business strategy
• Work with the DBA team in reviewing and sign off, of database changes to adhere to policies, standards, and processes
• Work with the DBA team for securing SQL environments
• Work with the DBA team for the on-going maintenance of DBA policies, standards, and processes
• Work with Senior IT stakeholders when required to help define pragmatic technical solutions and support delivery of the change portfolio to agreed timescales whilst adhering to business and IT strategies
• Work with the DBA team ensuring all applications on production systems perform efficiently and optimally
• Work with the DBA team ensuring that changes to production databases are dealt with a controlled manner.
• Works closely with the IT Infrastructure teams to ensure support and guidance where needed for database maintenance and monitoring

About You:

• Strong DBA experience with on-premises SQL server technologies
• Experience in MS Azure technologies:
• Azure SQL i.e., Azure SQL, Managed SQL Instance, and IaaS
• Perform DBA duties including supporting, performance tuning of business critical OLTP environments, index tuning, patching, server builds
• Experience with relational database architecture and schema design
• Good understanding of TSQL, including creation and optimization of stored procedures, functions
• Experience of backup and recovery techniques
• Experience of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) technologies e.g., Replication, Availability Groups
• Management of database transitions through different environments (dev, test, live, migrations, etc.)
• Experience in large database, highly transactional environments
• Knowledge/Experience of scripting tools e.g., PowerShell or Python or both
• Experience of Operational problem root cause analysis and corrective action
• Experience of SQL monitoring tools e.g., Idera or Redgate or spotlight
• Experience working with SSIS and ETL tools/technologies
• Working knowledge of DevOps & Agile methodologies
• Ability to communicate at all levels and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work under pressure and work to deadlines
