Job Description

This position is a great opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated engineer to join Arms Application Engineering team within Partner Enablement Group. We provide technical support to enable silicon partners worldwide to design and implement SoCsbased on Arm technology.We want to expand our ISP (Image Signal Processor) team by hiring an expert Image Quality Application Engineer. The role is based alongside the ISP development team in our office in Manchester city centre. You will also be closely working with team in Shanghai!Arm ISP products are targeted for markets including automotive, drones, teleconferencing and surveillance. You will gain a deep technical knowledge of Arm’s ISP and related products, build strong business awareness, and help customers to successfully adoptthe design solutions during the crucial stages of the fast-paced SoC product developments.Responsibilities:

• Help to address image quality related questions and issues raised by Arm silicon partners, as well as help to optimise the performance of the SoCs with Arm ISP IP, via support platform, emails, phone calls or face to face meetings.
• Provide ISP tuning work to our customer based on new sensors specified by customer. Provide solutions and advices to external customers on ISP algorithms tunning, image quality and performance improvements.
• Closely collaborate with development team to improve ISP products, by providing feedback, raising new features, bug/enhancement requests through engaging with customers and internal tasks or learning activities on ISP products.
• Engage with sale team to do ISP image quality evaluation for design win.
• The generation and review of new product training material, product documentations, frequently asked question lists and user guides.
• Deliver in-depth technical training virtually or onsite to Arm’s partners.
• Occasionally be required to travel to work with customers at their premises.

Required Skills and Experience :

• Good university degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or Physics; Post Graduate degree preferred. Other engineering or science subject graduates would be considered.
• 8+ years of industrial experience
• Demonstrable experience of problem solving and debug skills
• Good knowledge of Denoise, Demosaic, Edge Enhancement algorithms, experience of image processing algorithms development.
• Understanding of image quality factors, HDR imaging in Automotive application, and 3A algorithms (Auto White Balance, Auto Focus, Auto Exposure)
• Basic understanding of CMOS sensors
• Experience of Matlab, C, python, or other programming language
• Experience of customer and sales interaction – ideally in a Technical Support, Product Deployment or Field Application role - as well as development work.

“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience :

• Familiarity with Image quality testing software such as IMATEST
• Experience of display calibration/tuning on gamma, contrast, colour, dynamic range, etc.
• Good knowledge of ISP architectures
• Experience of implementing Android or Microsoft Windows applications will be a plus
• Deep understanding of media/camera devices and good knowledge in digital photography technology
• Experience of working in a multi-time zone and distributed team environment

Personal Requirements:

• Must have a strong customer focus.
• Need to have strong analytic, debugging and communication skills to triage and diagnose complex technical problems.
• Must have good interpersonal skills and work well within a multinational team. Excellent cultural awareness is critical.
• Must be able to travel globally on demand (approximately every 3 months)
