Job Description

Job Title:Procurement Officer- EstatesSalary: Up to £40,000 DOELocation: Greater ManchesterMorgan Hunt are proud to be working in partnership with The University of Manchester to recruit for a full-time, Permanent Procurement Officer for the Universities Estates Department. As part of a dynamic team of 8 you will work on some of the largest majorcapital projects in the country and will also work collaboratively to maintain and also develop one of the most prestigious University campuses in the United Kingdom which is about to receive £1 billion pounds worth of investment.The successful candidate will be a key member in a busy office providing professional support to senior colleagues and a service to diverse users across the University. You will be committed to providing excellent service to the highest standards and willrelish the opportunity to be part of some the universities most important ventures.Overall Purpose of the JobThe successful applicant will assist the client to follow best procurement practice and ensure that value for money is achieved as part of specific projects/tenders and within categories of spend.Key Responsibilities, Accountabilities or Duties

  • Lead and manage tenders to ensure that they are compliant with the Public Contracts Regulations (where required) and consistent with the clients Financial Regulations and Procedur
  • Work with, develop and maintain a variety of systems within the Central Procurement Office (CPO) including for example: the web pages, tender software, efficiency reporting and contracts databases.
  • Develop and maintain contacts
  • Ensure Client concerns are adequately registered and cov
  • Identify and provide training for colleagues involved in procurement activity
  • Other such duties as may reasonably be required by the Head of Procurement.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Sound experience of procurement work above clerical/administrative activity.
  • Computer literacy including in the use of MS Office with advanced level experience with Excel and Access programs
  • Understanding, and direct experience, of use of the Public Contracts Regulations
Desirable Experience:
  • Knowledge of Oracle Financials.
  • Experience of HE or another public sector environment.
  • MCIPS qualified
