The work will focus on the delivery of Conceptual / Feasibility Studies and Design, System Studies, Protectionand Substation Design projects around the world.You’ll offer more than most to exceed the expectations of our world-class clients. You’ll use highly developed communications skills to interact with colleagues and clients as well as promote an inspiring environment influencing other junior members of theteam.As an exceptional communicator, you’ll have highly developed report writing and presentation skills, enviable negotiation skills and the ability to engage your clients in your articulate and credible manner. You’ll thrive on customer engagement and be skilledin understanding their needs whilst having the ability to build an excellent rapport and represent the company in a professional manner.You’ll ensure project management methodologies and practices are consistently applied across the team. You’ll demonstrate a highly effective and collaborative approach, sharing knowledge, learning and information to enhance the overall contribution of theteam as well as, supporting senior management in fulfilling the company goal objectives.Responsibilities• Provide technical input and leadership on a variety of projects for distribution and transmission networks, renewable energy, and grid integration, including Power system planning, grid connection studies, protection and substation design• Ensure delivery of project outputs on time and on budget to a very high standard, ensuring client satisfaction• Playing a crucial role in the quality assurance of all work within the team, undertaking QA and checking of others work, reporting and deliverables• Track and report performance of projects• Undertaking electrical design elements for substation EHV/HV/MV projects of varying scales.• Working closely with Clients and other design engineers• Production of drawings using software packages like CAD, REVIT etc. Preparing and co-ordinating electrical reports and specifications• Co-ordinating work with engineers of other disciplines or sub-contractors• Attending meetings and communicating with clients to establish their needs• Reviewing project design, contractual documentation, environmental studies, planning permission, health and safety reports, grid offers and grid connection agreements.• Preparation of technical and non-technical reports.• Business Development• Contribute towards the submission of high-quality bids and proposals to existing and potential clients• Network at all levels within RINA, client organisations and other external bodies as applicable• Represent RINA to clients at bid presentations and project presentationsQualification & Experience required• Minimum BEng or MEng degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or other relevant technical discipline• Hold Chartered Engineer status or be working towards it.• Possess a good understanding of power system theory• Possess an understanding of transmission and distribution grids (LV to 400 kV) around the world, grid code requirements and industry accepted practices and grid connection processes• Knowledge of Laplace controller models and their operation• Knowledge of HV equipment and substation design• Experienced in a power system engineering environment• Track record on static and dynamic power system studies• Track record in design and specification of HV substation equipment would be an advantage• Proficient with modern simulation software and electrical circuit modelling tools e.g. PSS/E, DigSILENT Powerfactory, ETAP, ERACS etc. • Ability to work effectively within a flexible team environment• Experience in design of datacentres, substations, UG Cables, OHL projects will be preferred.• Extensive experience in the field of electrical design and experience across a range of small/medium to large scale projects and / or building types• Experience of operating within electrical teams on multi-disciplinary projects• Able to understand the balance of engineering priorities on differing projects• Able to quickly develop successful client relationships• Up to date knowledge and experience in most of the following areas:• Medium/High/EHV Voltage Transmission/Distribution Systems• Electrical SLD, Protection MCP• AC/DC Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, Cable Schedules, Block Diagrams• LV Cable Sizing, Battery Sizing Calculations• HV Plant Specifications and review of manufacturer drawings• Protection Settings #LI-CB2With over 4,000 employees and 200 offices in 70 countries worldwide, RINA is a multinational player which provides certification, marine classification, product testing, site supervision and vendor inspection, training and engineering consultancy servicesacross a wide range of sectors.
