Job Description

Paralegal (Regulatory Team) Salary: £28,000Location: Manchester City Centre or Leeds City BasedJob SummaryWe have an opportunity for a hard-working Paralegal looking for a new opportunity to join our growing Regulatory Team.We also have a growing health and safety (H&S) legal and consultancy services package, that we deliver in conjunction with our external H&S consultant, which involves advisory work, training, incident response, practical H&S advice, and guidance on retainer-based/ alternative pricing arrangements. We work very closely with our corporate, employment, real estate, and construction teams to support with commercial issues with H&S considerations, corporate H&S due diligence, sector-based initiatives (such as Fire andBuilding Safety) and any issues concerning employee physical health, mental health and well-being, for example.This role will include professional conduct work so experience in this area would be advantageous but not essential.We are looking for a candidate with: This role will include professional conduct work so experience in this area would be advantageous but not essential. Commercial astuteness, with a passion for health and safety, law and interest in business. Advocacy skills. Ability to work as part of a team and be willing to work independently where required (but with appropriate level of supervision as needed). Strong organisational and communication skills, written and verbal.Your key accountabilities will include:An array of regulatory areas with well-known / leading clients within Retail, Housing, Real Estate, Logistics, Construction sectors, amongst others.

  • Handling caseloads, filing and document management.
  • Drafting letters and correspondence, bundling and undertaking research.
  • Managing a variety of tasks across a number of cases at any given time.
  • System management and inputting of data.
This is a varied role where you can gain new experience in contentious criminal defence matters, non-contentious advisory and transactional work, as well as internal investigations and responding to serious incidents / fatalities and incident response toclients and regulators combined.You will support the team (Partners/Legal Directors/Senior Associates/Associates) across the team primarily with health and safety criminal defence, and advisory work (non-contentious and contentious) (including fire safety, building safety, transport law,motor defence and/or Coroners inquests) and other aspects of regulatory law such as food safety / hygiene; product safety (incl. construction products); and aspects of trading law (such as placing goods on the market post-Brexit).BenefitsOur successful candidate will have an incredible opportunity to develop a rewarding and successful career with an award-winning law firm in a flexible and agile working environment.We provide a competitive salary and benefits package, including 25 days’ holiday (increasing to 32 days through our loyalty recognition programme) plus the option to purchase an extra five days each year.
