Job Description

Company: Ashfield EngagePosition: Nurse AdvisorLocation: RemoteVacancy Type: PermanentSalary: CompetitiveJob Purpose:To build therapeutic relationships with service users, to empower them to participate in the Targeted Lung Health Programme. This includes where indicated, referral onto LDCT and smoking cessation servicesRole and Responsibility:

  • In selected locations and for patients identified by their GP practice as meeting the inclusion criteria.
  • Check verbal patient consent to proceed with the LHC and provide the GDPR statement, before the LHC is completed.
  • To complete the LHC via telephone or F2F, through the approved call guides.
  • To recheck the inclusion and exclusion criteria for the programme with the patient.
  • To explain the lung health checks pathway, using the patient leaflet sent with the LHC invitation letter.
  • To refer patients for Low Radiation Dose Computed Tomography (LDCT) if indicated by the national protocols, which include the cancer risk models.
  • To answer any queries patient may have in relation to the Lung Health Pathway.
  • To check the patients height and weight (as per the patients instruction) and record in Trak360
  • To fully document all patient interactions and stages in accordance with Company policies and procedures which include the electronic patient record system (Trak360)
  • To follow the programme process flow, in relation to the patient outcomes at each stage of the process i.e. post LHC, post LDCT.
  • To complete brief intervention smoking cessation and refer onto smoking cessation services.
  • To individually and collectively maximise the volume of patients seen each day, so that more patients can be screened, to identify those patients at early stages of lung cancer.
  • Undertake other tasks and assignments which may be required by the Nurse Manager or Company as discussed and agreed.
  • Maintain professional registration, up to date knowledge and evidence base in therapy areas.
  • Comply with the relevant regulatory guidelines including the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code and the Association of British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) Code of Practice for the Pharmaceutical Industry.
Essential Requirements:
  • Current NMC registration
  • Minimum two years post registration experience.
  • RCN member (or equivalent).
  • Satisfactory enhanced DBS Disclosure or equivalent (Scotland and Northern Ireland).
  • Satisfactory pre-employment medical checks and references.
  • Clear understanding of the need to deliver an excellent experience to all customers at all times
Desirable Requirements:
  • Experience in working as an Oncology nurse, screening nurse or respiratory nurse.
  • Previous coaching experience.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Good at planning and organising.
  • Evidence of recent learning.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the commercial aspect of the role.
