Job Description

MySQL Database Administrator - £65k - Gambling Tech - ManchesterThey are on an exciting journey to build the next generation sports betting and gaming platform that will support market leading bookmakers globally. With over £25 million invested so far, they have a long-term vision and lots of opportunities in the future.The client had developed a state-of-the-art gambling platform over the last two years and will provide 24/7/365 service for their customers. The platform will have millions of users and hundreds of thousands of transactions every day.The right candidate would be someone who is used to working with other DBAs, architects and developers to deliver innovative solutions and solve complex problems.They are looking for an experienced database developer to design stable and reliable PL/SQL code within their databases, with particular experience in ETL.You will be responsible for developing, testing, improving and maintaining new and existing database and ETL code to help users retrieve and process data as efficiently and effectively as possible. As part of the database team, you will work closely with other developers to ensure system consistency and performance.You will also collaborate with other members of the wider team to provide technical support and identify new data requirements. Communication and organization skills are keys for this position, along with a problem-solution attitude. Ultimately, you should be able to ensure the database code is clean and runs effectively and securely on a daily basis.About YouYou will sit within the team reporting to Senior DBA, alongside four other DBAs.The ideal candidate would be someone who is used to working with other DBAs, architects and developers to deliver innovative solutions and solve complex problems.

  • Experience in developing highly efficient code for high volume transactional sites such as e-commerce or online gaming.
  • Significant experience as a PL/SQL database developer with strong focus on MySQL or Oracle
  • Knowledge of standards and best practises in PL/SQL
  • Experience in 24x7, high traffic OLTP environment
  • Experience with some level of database performance monitoring and analysis
  • Good understanding of RDBMS systems
  • Experience in handling database performance optimisation via query or db optimisation
  • Good knowledge of Linux, preferably CentOS
