Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a multi skilled maintenance engineer on behalf of our client, a manufacturer of soft furnishings based in Ashton under Lyne.They require either a mechanical engineer with a good level of electrical knowledge or an electrical engineer with very good mechanical skills.The role

  • To carry out site repairs and modifications
  • To ensure all site plant and equipment operates efficiently and safely through proactive and reactive maintenance.
  • To carry out all engineering disciplines to a high standard with a right first time every time attitude whilst using best health and safety/safe working practices.
  • To identify opportunities of improvement which will benefit the system function in terms of performance, safety and efficiency.
  • To ensure that all plant is maintained in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule and update the relevant documentation.

  • Previous experience working within in a similar role
  • Time served electrical or mechanical engineer/ relevant qualification
  • Ability to be flexible in relation to shift pattern, hours of work, with some weekend working when required.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Work closely with production to understand any production issues
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements
  • Self-motivated with a can-do attitude

  • Good understanding of plc controlled production machinery
  • Electrical and mechanical repair and fault finding on production equipment
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Quick response to breakdown and repair
  • Plan and prioritize workload to ensure efficient use of work time
  • Be able to read engineering drawings
  • Machine fitting, rebuild, refurbish
  • Pneumatic & hydraulic repair
  • Conveyors, chain, belt
  • Hot melt glue systems
  • Electrical 3 phase, single phase, 24vdc control systems
  • Project work including: machine upgrades modifications, efficiency improvements. Electrical and machinery installations.
  • ShiftsMonday to Thursday 9-5 and Friday 9 to 4Basic Salary - circa £35k + overtime pay (paid at time & half)
