Job Description

Morgan Hunt are working with a large Housing Association who are looking to appoint a temporary Independent Living Officer at one of their Independent Living Schemes in Greater Manchester. The position is for 30 hours per week and will be scheme based.As an Independent Living Officer, you will be responsible for;

  • Providing an effective housing management service to residents living within the scheme
  • Supporting individuals to remain independent for as long as possible through appropriate tailored support plans and signposting to additional services where required
  • Establishing and building relationships with community agencies and voluntary organisations
  • Ensuring any prospective tenants understand the responsibility of a tenancy and a needs and risk assessment is completed to arrange any additional support needed to ensure tenancy sustainment
  • Health and Safety of the building - ensuring this is maintained and recorded correctly, including managing contractors on site, checking fire equipment, smoke alarm emergency lighting, pull cords where required and reporting failures immediately

  • Experience of working with a diverse range of residents including those who are vulnerable with complex needs
  • Have the resilience and emotional intelligence to be able to cope with difficult situations
  • Knowledge and experience of Safeguarding and multi agency working
  • Experience of helping individuals to identify and address health need
  • Knowledge of the agenda for social inclusion, financial inclusion and tackling social isolation
  • Up to date knowledge to allow benefit advice to be given
