Job Description

Head of Procurement - Chemicals - ManchesterClient DetailsMy client is a highly profitable manufacturer that continue to grow year on year, with further plans for expansion in the near future. As part of the growth strategy they have already invested in on boarding new people and CAPEX to build on the current capacity.The Head of Procurement is a key hire that will ensure the success of the business and help shape and deliver the overall strategy.DescriptionAs the Head of Procurement you will:

  • Take time to understand the current operation and growth strategy to ensure the function supports the objectives
  • Review the supply base in terms of QCD, and importantly capacity to ensure the supply partners can support the business on a long term basis
  • Manage current and future risk be securing supply under contracts and approving additional channels if required
  • Ensure the business remains competitive through innovation gained from suppliers, and close monitoring of global markets
  • Lead the team to ensure the function is value add, and engaged to drive performance improvements
  • Contribute to the senior leadership and help deliver the business plan through an agile, cost efficient supply chain
ProfileThe ideal candidate will be:
  • Already a Head of Procurement within either a Chemicals or Plastics based manufacturing environment
  • Confident and proven in de-risking supply markets, and proactively presenting solution ahead of time
  • Significant knowledge in chemical or plastics (polymer) supply markets and proven in negotiation with large multinationals
  • Used to being "hands on" and collaborating the wider team around them
  • Performance focused
