Job Description

Groundwork Greater Manchester is a registered charity, mobilising practical community action on poverty and the environment across the region.Were recruiting a number of Fencing Supervisor roles, where youll be responsible for erecting and repairing fencing at the properties of tenants of a large social housing provider in Wythenshawe, alongside providing on-site supervision for a small team of labourers and apprentices.Youll be experienced in erecting and delivering a wide range of fencing systems, have a strong work ethic and be a good communicator, hold a current CSCS card and full driving license, and be able to travel between our head office in Ashton-under-Lyne and on-site in Wythenshawe.The position offers you job security working on a long term multi-year project, and comes with attractive salary benefits including holidays, pension and sick pay.Main purposes of the post:

  • Implement a range of fencing tasks to properties of a large Social Housing Provider, primarily waney lap, close board, timber gates, metal gates and metal fencing, all to agreed specifications and standards
  • Provide day to day supervision and allocation of tasks for labourers or apprentices working with you
  • Maintain good working relationships with clients’ representatives, tenants and other members of the public affected by works on site
  • Ensure all work documentation is correctly completed and returned to the main office each day, using mobile system to photograph and record works on site and record tenant feedback where required
  • Experience required:
  • Experienced in erecting and delivering a wide range of fencing systems such as waney lap; close board; Hit n Miss; making and erecting timber gates; metal gates; metal fencing; ad hoc repairs
  • Sound knowledge and experience of site based health and safety management
  • Delivering projects to deadlines
  • Using and maintaining a wide range of tools and equipment
  • Experience of supervising people on site would be advantageous
  • Knowledge, skills and qualifications required:
  • Full driving licence
  • Educated to O’ Level / GCSE or equivalent
  • Current CSCS card
  • Abrasive wheel use and manual handling trained
  • Cat and Genny trained
  • Excellent verbal communication, time management and personal organisation skills
  • Good team player and able to create an inclusive team environment
  • Level 3 Diploma in Fencing or equivalent would be advantageous
  • Additional Detail:
  • Core hours Monday to Friday 07.30 to 16.00 (early finish on Friday)
  • This role will be subject to a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
