About the Role From a standing start seven years ago, CMS Manchester office is now one of the largest offices of any major law firm in the city, with around 120 lawyers and support staff advising local, national and international clients across a range of practice groups,including commercial disputes.Manchester is the fastest growing office in CMS global network, and we have this month moved into expanded and state-of-the-art premises in the heart of the city to accommodate this growth. And we are still growing.The team advises on a wide variety of international and national disputes, across all the sectors that the Firm works in and the team has specialists in reputation management and data protection issues. The work we do for our clients is often high profileand at the cutting edge of dispute resolution. Whilst you will be a key member of our Manchester team you will also work on matters from across our UK and international network.This team has a proven track record of providing practical and commercial advice to a wide range of clients at all stages of the dispute resolution process - from drafting dispute resolution clauses during pre-contractual negotiations, through to obtainingemergency injunctions in situations where assets may be at risk, to litigating and arbitrating complex multi-jurisdictional disputes and enforcing judgments and awards and recovering assets.The aim is to be the leading commercial litigation team in Manchester. You can be part of making that happen.About YouWe are currently recruiting at 5/6 years PQE level. You will understand litigation, arbitration and ADR procedures. You will be expected to provide in-depth case analysis and briefings for the team whilst being able to manage substantial disputes under partner supervision. You will work directly with clients. This will include taking instructions and preparing high quality and concise party/party correspondence, instructions to Counsel, pleadings and other court and arbitration documents. You will also be able to support the team with business development opportunities and be encouraged to take the initiative in developing your own and the teams client relationships and market profile.We work collaboratively within a team environment and support not only the development of the practice but also the teams culture and values.
