Job Description

Commercial Contracts Manager, Manchester, Competitive SalaryThe postholder will report to the Commercial Director in a central capacity but support the Commercial Managers in multiple business units at tender stage by reviewing and commenting on terms and conditions to allow negotiations to commence and assist theLead Buyer to negotiate terms with the supply chain throughout the life cycle of a project. Once a project is secured, documentation to allow contract signing to be prepared, in line with internal governance. The ability to assist in producing commercialsupporting information for tenders and experience in negotiating directly with clients would be an advantage but not essential.Internal relationships will include liaison with our Work Winning Team, Commercial Managers, Legal Team, and Procurement.This role will be trained and mentored by the Senior Legal Advisor from our internal Legal Team, offering a great opportunity for personal progression! The existing post holder remains with the business and will also offer day to day assistance where required.We are looking for candidates who have experience working with a similar environment and previous experience in a similar role is preferred. Educated to degree level in quantity surveying or similar construction-related subject with pre-construction and/orcontract law expertise is preferable. We would also consider candidates from a pure legal background.This role could be fully remote with office visits when required.Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, comment and negotiate, where appropriate, upstream bespoke or industry standard contracts / NDAs in line with the Company Contracting Standards
  • Support the pre contract teams and Commercial Managers during client negotiations
  • Assist the Procurement and Commercial Managers with downstream negotiations with suppliers and subcontracts
  • Advise on any contract clauses likely to have a significant effect on the projects that are not captured by the Contracting Standards
  • Interface with Clients, Suppliers, Sub-contractors, and Consultants
