Job Description

Ground Control is the UK’s fastest growing external maintenance and commercial landscaping company. We were established in 1973 as a Grounds Maintenance company, becoming incorporated as a limited company in 1984.We offer a truly national service that includes grounds maintenance, winter maintenance, tree works and vegetation management, soft and hard landscaping, ecology, design & build, pest control and fencing. Ground Control is the contractor of choice for many well-known private and public organisations - Network Rail, Tesco, Severn Trent Water, Sainsbury’s, Arqiva and the Tower of London to name a few.As a multi-award winning company, Ground Control now holds 33 BALI National Landscape Awards for a range of Landscaping and Grounds Maintenance projects, a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation, and a total of 9 RoSPA Gold Awards for Occupational Health & Safety.We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Contract Manager to join our team Nationally to support with our new and exciting Special Projects, including Pole Numbering and Babcock. Reporting to the Operations Director, the Senior Contract Manager will contribute to the performance and growth of our Special Projects and ensure that we exceed our client’s expectations on safety, quality and operational delivery.Duties will include:

  • Managing multiple large projects to exceed client and internal KPIs
  • Assist the Operations Director with the planning, safety and quality of the work
  • Ensuring there is adequate resourcing to deliver
    • The candidate will ideally have had some, but not necessarily all, of the following experiences
  • A degree or diploma, or the equivalent in forestry, horticulture, arboriculture, environment, land use or related discipline.
  • 5 or more year’s relevant managerial and operational experience or equivalent relevant practical experience.
  • Previous experience in the rail industry
  • Experienced in effectively leading teams
  • Effective influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Knowledge and strong commercial acumen of tendering
