Job Description

UCH Logistics is a dynamic, customer focused provider of specialist transport services to the airfreight industry. Established in 2000, we have built a reputation for offering reliable, time-sensitive and next day deliveries throughout the UK.Reporting to the General Manager of our busy Manchester Airport organisation, we are looking for a Transport Controller to join our hardworking, professional team which provides a vital role in being the key point of contact between our agents, our driversand other stakeholders in order to ensure our daily targets are met in an efficient and effective manner whilst providing a high service level. The successful candidate will be required to have experience in all aspects of Transport from booking in drivers,vehicle load specifications, route planning to maximise earning potential and workload completion with driver debriefs. However, we are open to hearing from people without this specific experience as we are able to offer full training.The successful candidate, whether experienced in the transport industry or not, will likely have the following skills and experience:

  • An appreciation of excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate well with a variety of stakeholders
  • Good geographical knowledge of the UK
  • Excellent organisational skills and an understanding of strict deadlines
  • The ability to remain calm and courteous in all situations
  • The willingness to go the extra mile during occasional extreme circumstances
Initial and ongoing training on our in-house systems, processes and procedures will come as standard with the potential to develop more detailed knowledge of the Transport/Freight Forwarding industry.The hours of work are 09:00 to 19:00hrs Monday to Friday, with an hours break per day. After approximately two months, you will join the 1-in-3 Sunday rota (usually 2pm start for 2 to 3 hours).In return, we offer:
  • A salary of between £25,000 and £30,000pa depending on skills and experience
