Job Description

Job Description Your New roleHere at National Highways, we currently have an opportunity for a Senior Pavement Engineer to join our team in the South East. Within this role, you will be undertaking the identification and evaluation of asset data and needs in order to develop early solutions,in line with agreed methodologies and prioritisation criteria and the designing of highway renewals and maintenance schemes.This role will be based in either one of our Maidstone or Basingstoke offices.You will require a full clean driving license for when you are required to drive.What youll be leading on

  1. Ensuring the health and safety needs and wellbeing of customers and employees are fully considered and accounted for throughout the planning and delivery of each service activity
  2. Leading and coordinating the activities and resources involved in the identification and evaluation of asset data and needs in order to develop early solutions, in line with agreed methodologies and prioritisation criteria.
  3. Monitoring the delivery of agreed early solutions and plans, liaising with the relevant teams to identify and/or rectify issues.
  4. To Identify, prepare briefs and support delivery of survey works that support the improvement and/or renewal of assets.
  5. Developing the technical briefs provided to the design and construction contractors for improvement and renewals work.
  6. To provide technical support to Project Managers by providing materials approvals, vetting of contractors compliance, inspection support on site, and reviewing of Health and Safety Files.
  7. Tasked with undertaking technical reviews of third party designs to ensure that they comply with standards, design briefs and Design for Maintenance Requirements.
To be Successful
  • A Chartered or Incorporated Engineer is desirable and a member of a relevant professional Body with appropriate experience is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of asset condition assessment and degradation modelling.
  • Knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards and their application on the highways network
  • Degree or HND in relevant discipline and appropriate experience, or equivalent
  • Experience in Pavement design.
  • Understanding of the Value Management process or cost benefit analysis of schemes
  • Experience in working within budgets including the creation of a budget for scheme development
  • Experience in highway construction and delivery methods
  • Good knowledge of CDM 2015
