Job Description

My client is looking for commercially astute Management Accountant / Project Accountant to join its finance function. This is a permanent role to initially cover the Finance Director and Finance Manager whilst they spend time on a replacement business systemimplementation project which is likely to last 12 to 18 months.My clients business activities include civil engineering, property investment & development, design & build contracting, plant hire and quarrying.Working directly with the Group Chief Financial Officer, responsibilities include:

  • Maintain a standard costing system in aggregates and concrete
  • Assist and improve the quarterly forecasting, budgets and business plans
  • Assist and improve the analysis of sales and cost trends within the business, making recommendations to improve profitability/processes
  • Assist in the development of new reports in COINS using COINS own reports, Excel, Power Bi and possibly Jet
  • Automate and improve existing reports via Excel
  • Financial planning and analysis
  • Assist with the production of the management and statutory accounts
  • Ad hoc projects
Experience & Skills:
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or QBE
  • KEY experience includes:
    • Management and statutory accounting
    • Finance project management
    • Excellent IT / technology skills
  • Experience of working in a large organisation that offers a range of services
  • Excellent communicator
  • Ability to build relationships across the business
  • Organised and motivated
  • Highly numerate
  • Inquisitive mind
  • Willing and able to influence decisions
  • Willing and able to improve profitability through reporting, analysis, observation, conversation
  • Ambitious and driven
  • Experience of COINS is desirable but not essential
